The Ocean Avenue LEARNing Academy is committed to providing a wide range of high-quality, customized services in support of districts' education of students with special needs.

Student Support Services is proud to offer programs across the education continuum from elementary school, through middle school, and high school through the Ocean Avenue LEARNing Academy. We work to create a safe and nurturing educational environment that will foster the individual growth of each student. Our focus is on the cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral development of students through the use of a trans-disciplinary program. This environment values differences while promoting respect, responsibility, kindness, compassion, safety, and good citizenship.

Ocean Avenue LEARNing Academy specialized school programs and services spring from the application of research-based practices, attention and listening to needs, the ability to problem-solve and bring together resources to address challenges, and a strong emphasis on collaborative partnerships and relationships. 

Services and supports are individualized in each program depending upon the needs of the students. Intensive services for students with autism or other developmental delays include the application of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which is a systematic method of increasing socially appropriate behaviors and decreasing problematic behavior.
